Reyneke Organic Sauvignon blanc Semillon is an organic white wine coupage of the Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon varieties produced by the Reyneke winery in the Stellenbosch region, South Africa. To make the Reyneke Organic Sauvignon blanc Semillon wine, two thirds of the grapes come from organic vineyards in the Western Cape. These plots have predominantly sandy loam soils. The rest of the clusters come from vineyards belonging the same winery.
The varieties are destemmed separately and remain in contact with their skins for two hours. Fermentation takes place spontaneously in stainless steel tanks and the resulting wines spend 5 months under their fine lees. When the wine has finished aging, both varieties are mixed ready for bottling. All work at Reyneke is carried out under the principles of biodynamic agriculture. Non-intervention approaches are taken in both the vineyard and the winery. No artificial additives are used, to make sure the wines express the personality of the grapes and the character of the land they come from. This outstanding work and the spirit of solidarity and respect for nature have made it one of the most well-known wineries in South Africa.
