The renowned Becker family, whose winemaking legacy dates back to 1610, produces wines of the highest standard and, holds vineyards across five Grand Cru areas; Froehn, Schlossberg, Sonnenglanz, Praelatenberg and Schoenenberg.
Since 1999 production has been certified organic, reinforcing their attention to detail and respect for their unique terroir. The winery came to global attention in 1988 when their Muscat Selection de Grains Noble from Grand Cru Froehn vineyard was picked at a record breaking potential alcohol level of 26 degrees.
Sonnenglanz, meaning sun light in Alsatian, is well exposed with calcareous soils and perfect to grow Gewurztraminer. Aromas of exotic fruits and hints of peach, rose and Turkish delight. Ripe and juicy on the palate with sweet fruits well balanced with a refreshing acidity. This wine is slightly off-dry and is truly stunning.
