Ken, Stephen and Chris

WHO WE ARE…

Parisian born, Kenrick, has been working in the wine trade since October 1999. It all started as a part time student job while studying in England for his business degree.

Ken worked for Fuller wines, Unwins, then at the aged of 22 became the youngest manager in Paris for the Repaire de Bacchus. He spent a year in Wellington, selling wines and exploring New Zealand vineyards. He was a Manager at Oddbins and then worked at Harrods wine shop until 2014 when he co-founded Bob wines with a group of other partners. Now, Kenrick with his business partner, Stephen have opened Urban Cellar where they bring enjoyable wines, great local Beers to the south of London.

South-East London born Stephen initially studied to pursue a career in surveying and building. Upon graduation and struggling to get work to complete his RICS, Stephen fell into the world of head office retail, initially inputting and chasing orders, then working in buying, merchandising, supply chain and sourcing alongside marketing, Ecom and finance functions for large multiples, premium brands and smaller independents.

Stephen would have been one of Ken’s very first customers at Bob Wines which is how they originally met, but he and his partners second child was born later than planned on Bob Wines opening day. Despite that, Stephen became one of Ken’s regular customers and when the opportunity of a career break from commuter life presented itself, went about setting up Urban Cellar with Kenrick, utilising both building and retail experience gained over the years.

Chris has been living and working in Crystal Palace for a few years and loves the area, atmosphere and people. Chris managed the front of house at a restaurant that Stephen and his family used to frequent regularly, and they got to know each other well over time.

When the restaurant closed and Stephen bumped into and told Chris about Urban Cellar, well, as they say, the rest is history. Chris has really enjoyed learning more about the intricacies of wine from Kenrick and beers and ciders from Stephen and brings a wealth of welcoming and engaging customer service and facing experience to Urban Cellar.

What We Do…

We offer wines from the key countries and regions at a budget for every occasion and food pairing. We will always ask you if you would like and help and advice on your wine and beer purchases.

BEER & WINE TASTINGS

At key times of the month, we offer informal walk by tastings of the beers, wine and spirits we stock.

These are held on our outside bar area and sometimes there is a special offer on the day. Follow us on Instagram, Facebook and sign up to our loyalty card to find out more and when the next tastings are.

BEER & WINE CLUB

Coming Soon…

We plan to offer a quarterly wine and beer club. You select the type of membership and selected your wines and beers you would like for each month.

BEER & WINE TOURS

Coming Soon

We plan to offer tours and visits to the local craft beer breweries and selected wine producers.

HIGH QUALITY Service

With many years collective experience in the wine, beer and retail industry we aim to give our customers the very best and honest advice and service.

BOTTLE REFILLS

We offer selected wine and beer on tap to takeaway in the vessel of your choice. That can be a used wine bottle, milk carton or beer growler. The wine and beer can be purchased in measures of 500ml, 700ml and 1 litre.

You can also purchase the wine and beer on tap by the glass to enjoy in our outside seating area.

Alternatively, if you wish to purchase your own wine and beer from the shelf or fridge to enjoy outside, we charge a small corkage charge of £3.50 for wine and £0.50p for beer on top of the product price.

SUPPORTING LOCALS

Where possible, we endeavour to support breweries local to South East London and Kent and stock their products.
